The new year provides us with an opportunity to reflect on our past and envision how we would like to shape our future. When we rely only upon ourselves for improvement, we overlook the one thing that guides us to true contentment and success. That, of course, is turning toward God to elevate our good works into great works.
The new year draws to mind our tradition of making resolutions. This month, we explore the simple and meaningful resolution to “praise God for the grace and mercy that fill our days.” The Church dedicates a different spiritual theme for each day of the week. Our time is a sacred gift, and every day has a special significance. These daily devotions provide a routine for contemplation designed to direct us toward the Lord and progress spiritually throughout the year.
Making New Year’s resolutions is a time-honored tradition. Let’s resolve to improve our relationships with God this year. Perhaps one of the best ways to express our love to God is by loving each other. This month, therefore, we shift our focus outward as we consider growing in charity toward others.
